Starlene “Star” McGory was born in Tampa, Florida and attended
undergraduate at Florida State University where she received her Bachelor
of Science in Social Work in 1986 and her Master of Science in Social
Work (M.S.W.) in 1987. After college, Star worked as a social worker for
six years at a runaway shelter and in medical settings. Star then decided
to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney and enrolled in law school
in 1993 at Loyola School of Law in New Orleans from which she obtained
her law degree in 1996.
Starlene brings over 20 years of experience in defending Workers’
Compensation claims. Starlene was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1996
and the focus of her law career has been representing employers and insurance
carriers in workers’ compensation matters. Starlene has also represented
employers and their carriers in general liability matters as well. She
is a certified instructor in Workers’ Compensation for the Department
of Financial Services and has lectured at seminars on various topics in
worker’s compensation law, including adjuster ethics.
Starlene is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Florida.
She is also admitted to practice in Federal Court for the Middle District
of Florida. She is a member of the Florida Bar including the Workers’
Compensation Section.
